Angel │ Angelis

Angelis was a British singing group that was created by Simon Cowell.  They were initially formed in early 2006, and was made up of six children, who were then aged between 11 and 14.  They were discovered during nationwide auditions.  The members of the group were: Amy Dow, Camilla Seale, Sam Adams-Nye, Natalie Grace Chua,  Moray West, and  Joe Martin.  In 2007 Angelis was mysteriously disbanded for reasons that were never revealed publicly.  In this edition of Angel Watchers I am featuring them singing the ever beautiful "Angel" that was written by Earl Simmons, Irving Domingo Lorenz, and Taiwan Green.  Safe journeys to all the fans of Angel Watchers, wherever you may be.

Cuando Me Vaya │ Los Chicos de la Escolanía

Los Chicos de la Escolanía, from the Real Monasterio de San Lorenzo, is a very special choral group from Spain.  In 1995 they had an international hit with the song "Nirvana".  They also had a very unique sound then that was sort of a cross between Enigma, and Hildegard Von Bingen.  At that time they were known collectively as Elbosco.  Their latest hit is called "Cuando Me Vaya (When I Go)", that was recorded in collaboration with Spanish pop star Jaime Terrón, who is the lead singer of the musical group Melocos.  "Cuando Me Vaya" is so beautiful, so plaintive, so soulful, that I wept when I first heard it.  There is a haunting harmonic tag at the end of the bridge, followed by some spoken words that sends chills up my spine.  This is what great popular music is all about.  In this edition of Angel Watchers I am featuring Los Chicos de la Escolanía" singing Cuando Me Vaya".  This song, and the CD that it is from, was actually recorded at the Real Monasterio de San Lorenzo.  Safe journeys to all the fans of Angel Watchers, wherever you may be.

You Were Never Lovelier │ The Singing Messengers

In this edition of Angel Watchers I am featuring a cool video clip from the classic 1942 film "You Were Never Lovelier" starring Fred Astaire and Rita Hayworth.  This scene showcases the "singing messengers", that were sent by Bob Davis (Fred Astaire) in an attempt to woo Maria Acuña (Rita Hayworth) who is playing hard-to-get.  The "singing messengers" are so good, I just had to share them with all of the fans of Angel Watchers.

Оглянись вокруг │ РОБИНЗОН (Robinzon)

In this edition of Angel Watchers I am featuring РОБИНЗОН (Robinzon), a fantastic vocal group from Russia.  Robinzon was started in 1986 at a music school in the city of Ishim, located in Siberia.  At the school, all the students play one or more instruments, and many of them also learn to write their own music.  They are also required to study music theory, and receive intensive coaching in the art of performing.  Needless-to-say, they are encouraged to perform often, which is why they are so good.  Robinzon has a cool website that can be found at this link:  Robinzon - Official Website    Please click on the video widget below to watch Robinzon perform an emotional version of "Оглянись вокруг (Look around)".  Safe journeys to all the fans of Angel Watchers, wherever you may be.

Angels │ Los Chicos de la Escolanía

In this edition of Angel Watchers I am featuring a very special choral group from Spain called Los Chicos de la Escolanía.  In the video below they sing "The Flower Duet (Sous le dôme épais)", from Léo Delibes' haunting, and mystical opera, "Lakmé".  It has been featured in many movies, and television commercials, and just so happens to be one of my most favorite songs in the whole world.  By-the-way, I am sure that this video will brighten up your day because it is so charming and innocent.  Los Chicos de la Escolanía has a really cool website that can be found at this link:  Los Chicos de la Escolonía - Official Website  They also have a very good YouTube channel at this link:  Los Chicos de la Escolanía - YouTube Channel  Safe journeys to all the fans of Angel Watchers, wherever you may be.

Nessun Dorma │ Julian Sage Miyata

Julian Sage Miyata is a remarkable singer.  I am very fussy about what singers I present on Angel Watchers. They need to have that "special something" that is hard to define, but can be felt, before I will feature them.  Which is why I do not make wholesale postings on a daily, or weekly basis.  Well Julian certainly has that "something special" in great abundance.  I never make any post on Angel Watchers without first consulting my Dear Aunt Martha,  who is the Angel Watchers' expert on refinement, and the arts.  She sang for many years as a contralto with the Metropolitan Opera Company, so I really value her opinion.  Julian's talent impressed her to no end.  We both hugged each other and wept profusely while listening to Julian sing "Nessun Dorma (None Shall Sleep)" from Giacomo Puccini's magnificent opera "Turandot".  Julian unfortunately does not have any CDs for sale as of yet.  Please click on the video widget below for a transcendental musical experience.

Dile Que La Quiero │ Raúl Río

Raúl Río not only sings, but he also is a fantastic dancer.  As usual, I was bouncing aimlessly around the internet, and I discovered this wonderful video quite by accident.  Raúl is from Spain, and I think that his popularity must be regional, as I was not able to find any biographical information about him, although he does have a lot of videos online.  There is one thing that I know for certain about Raúl, and that is, he really knows how to shake what his momma gave him.  Bravo!  You can tell by the look on Raúl's face that he is having a good time.  I like the way that he prepares to stand on his mark before the song begins.  In the video below Raúl sings the lively, and soulful,  "Dile Que La Quiero (I Tell Her)".  I challenge you to try to keep still while watching this video.  Safe journeys to all the fans of Angel Watchers,  wherever you may be.

Aventuras En El Tiempo │ Adventures In Time

Christopher Uckermann and Belinda

In this edition of Angel Watchers I am featuring my favorite all-time telenovela "Aventuras En El Tiempo (Adventures In Time)".  It was broadcast from March 19, 2001 to August 24, 2001, on the Univision cable network, and I must say that I watched every single episode.  The stars were Christopher Uckermann who played the part of Angel del Huerto, and Belinda who played the dual roles of Violeta/Rosenda.  They were supported by Roberto Marin (Narciso), and Alejandro Speitzer (Neto).  Many episodes of this amazing telenovela can be found on YouTube.
