Yura And Karina - Wonderful Angels From Berdichcev
Once in a great while, I come across a video that really catches my fancy in a big way. As is often the case, I was looking for something else, and serendipitously, I find a precious treasure. To say that I was totally captivated by this video would be an understatement. In this edition of Angel Watchers, we present Yura who is seven, and Karina, who is six, from the Northern Ukrainian city of Berdichev. Thanks to Yura and Karina, we are allowed just for a few minutes, to glimpse beyond the veil that usually separates us from seeing the pure innocence, and unbounded joys of childhood. Yura is amazingly strong and athletic for his age, and makes all of his moves seem so effortless. It's almost as if he is defying gravity, and throughout all of this, he has a beatific smile on his face. Karina, is the perfect dance partner, and plays her part extremely well. I can easily imagine both of them as being the set-piece on top of an Angelic Music Box. Watching this video is truly a transcendental experience. Safe journeys to all the fans of Angel Watchers, wherever you may be.

Adrian Heurta - Alpha Beta Gamma
"Alpha Beta Gamma" is an incredible video short from Spain, starring Adrian Huerta. What is amazing though, is that director Miguel Alcaide, has managed to tell a complete story in under four minutes. By-the-way, Adrian is so much fun to watch. I love the way he moves. He also acts with a lot of intensity. It is not obvious at first, but try to figure out what happens to the little chicken at the end of the video. Safe journeys to all the fans of Angel Watchers, wherever you may be.

Jibarito Angels From Puerto Rico
My Dear Aunt Martha has been on a mission lately. She is quite enthused about her work on Angel Watchers, and is always on the lookout for something special to share with all of you. Well, Aunt Martha has outdone herself again. You see, after she retired from the opera, she lived in Puerto Rico for several years, and supported herself by giving singing lessons. Aunt Martha grew to love, and respect the people, and the music of Puerto Rico. She phoned me about an hour ago, and was very excited about a video that she just found on the internet, of some Puerto Rican angels singing Jibaro music. Aunt Martha explained to me that it is very rare for children to be performing Jibaro music, because it is difficult to play, and is largely improvisational in nature. The lyrics are made up on the spot. Some would say that Jibaro music is to the Puerto Rican people, what Flamenco is to the Spanish, and Fado to the Portuguese. It is music that speaks directly from the soul. Needless to say, I immediately logged on to the site that she gave me, to see what this was all about. I was enchanted. I played the video over, and over again, and it kept sounding better, and better with each play. This is wonderful music that is not heard very often outside of Puerto Rico, and the children singing it are adorable. The group is called "Capullos del Arte (Art Buds)". The cuatro player has wonderful hands, and it is fun to watch him play his rifts. There is also a rhythm guitarist who does double duty by playing bass notes. And the singing, to me, has the definite feel of the Fado music of Portugal. I was in music heaven, with these angels singing to me. In this edition of Angel Watchers, Aunt Martha and I are proud to present, beautiful Jibarito angels from Puerto Rico. Lei, Lo, Lei, Lo, Lai! Safe journeys to all the fans of Angel Watchers, wherever you may be.

Preston Weber - Master Of The Fireknife Dance
Eleven-year-old Preston Weber from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, a self-taught fireknife dancer, won his age-group title (6 to 11 year old contestants), on May 13, 2010 at the 18th World Fireknife Championships at the Polynesian Cultural Center in Laie, Hawaii. I've lived all of my life in Hawaii, but I have never seen such a remarkable fireknife performance by one who is so young. He dances with so much feeling, and attitude. It is really very refreshing to watch him. Preston created a media feeding frenzy in Honolulu because of his outstanding performances in the competition. He was featured prominently on both print and electronic media in Hawaii. Preston Weber is Hawaii's newest star. Safe journeys to all the fans of Angel Watchers, wherever you may be.
